Protecting God's Children
Protecting our youth is a high priority. Troop 10 complies with youth protection policies of the Boy Scouts of America and the Catholic Diocese of Rockford.
Youth Protection Training is required of all Adult Leaders. To complete BSA Youth Protection Training, follow the instructions for the online course on the Three Fires Council website (click here). The course should take 30 minutes or less. At the end of the course, you will be given the opportunity to print your certificate as proof of completion. Submit a copy to the Troop 10 Adult Training Coordinator.
Protecting God's Children (PGC) training is required of all adults who are involved with Scouting or any other work with children at St. Patrick Parish and in the Rockford Diocese. It is required of all Scout parents, Scout leaders and any other adult involved with Troop 10. Training sessions will be noted on the Training tab as they become available.
You may also find more PGC training opportunities at the Rockford Diocese web site or the Joliet Diocese calendar link.
How can I get involved?
Thanks for asking! There are a number of ways for parents to get involved. We can always use more Assistant Scoutmasters, Committee members, merit badge counselors, etc. Some parents are able and interested in being involved on a weekly basis; others can only help out a few times per year. Discuss your interests with the Scoutmaster or Committee Chairperson -- we should be able to find a good match!
Members at large are also needed to help with sub-committee activities.
Troop 10 class A uniforms (Khaki Uniform Shirt and neckerchief) are worn September 1 through May 31. Class B uniforms (green Troop 10 logo t-shirts) are worn during the warmer months in between. Class B t-shirt orders are taken each Spring after new Webelos join and before summer camp. Contact Marian Z. for an order form.
Information on emblem and insignia placement on the Class A uniform, can be found in the Boy Scouts of America Insignia Guide.
